If someone is considering the purchase of a swimming pool and their yard is not flat, then there is a good chance they may need a retaining wall. Retaining walls come in many different forms and materials, such as railroad ties, centerblock, brick, landscape blocks, and poured concrete.

A retaining wall made of concrete, also known as a turn-down slab, is very cost-effective.

Many people, when thinking about purchasing a pool, look at the slope in their backyard and wonder if they can actually have a pool. If they're going to put it in, they have to look at the expenses they'll incur—whether they'll need retaining walls or how we're going to do it.

What we do depends on how much slope you have in your backyard:

  • Take the excess dirt and build up around it
  • Build a turn-down concrete wall
  • Build a retaining wall
  • Build a wood wall

A turn-down wall can go up to 30–36 inches tall.

In the video, the customer's turn-down wall was a single pour, and she had poured steps on the taller side.

River Pools is a brand of inground fiberglass pools produced via the River Pools division of the manufacturing facility in Fortville, IN. River Pools® manufactures fiberglass pool shells and does not install pools. Pools are installed by locally owned and operated dealers and franchisees. The relationship between the dealers and franchisees to River Pools® is that of an independent contractor. River Pools Franchising LLC (Franchising) provides independently owned and operated River Pool franchisees with the right to market the River Pools brand of pool shells as a franchisee. Franchising does not manufacture pool shells. Due to the unprecedented and historic growth of the River Pools brand, this website contains an abundance of information that has been created over the last decade.
