Video Tour of Gorgeous Fiberglass Pool with Retaining Walls

One of the most challenging aspects of buying an inground pool is visualizing what the finished project will look like, and this is especially true on a sloping lot where retaining walls are needed.

This short video will give you a walking tour of a completed project that has two retaining walls complete with fence and landscaping to help you conceptualize what an inground pool with retaining walls might look like in your backyard.

This particular site had about four feet of slope from the front of the pool to the back; so the solution was to build two separate retaining walls, each two feet tall.  The result was gorgeous....check it out for yourself.

I am a do it yourselfer with fairly extensive construction experience. Few years ago built 160 foot locking block retaining wall. I have since moved and looking to build a retaining wall for pool. I really like fiberglass pools. I understand that I will need an engineer reguarding my wall. My question is how to backfill to a pool. If I backfill with compacted stone on the low side is that sufficient? Obviously backfilling behind wall and then digging out for pool doesn't make alot of sense. My wall will be quite high, 8ft+, and reinforced with geogrid.

Tim, sounds like an exciting project. We backfill our walls with stone just as you stated and have had great success. Your engineer will specify which type of stone will work best for your application. Great question and good luck!
