July 2009: We want to remind everyone that winter pricing is in affect from now until the end of December. Therefore, if you know you would like to have a pool by next year, do not delay this process. The time to save for next year is NOW, and these saving are usually 3-7k off of regular pricing.
July 2009: One of the owner of River Poos, Marcus Sheridan, has again been invited to speak at the National Pool and Spa Show at Las Vegas in Novemeber of this year. As the youngest speaker in the industry's largest show, Sheridan will be teaching other pool and spa companies a class on proper sales methods.
June 2009: In case any of you have not noticed, we now have a BLOG page at River Pools, and it is Awesome!! Ok, so we are a little biased but what we are doing is building a huge swimming pool information library that our current and future customers can go to for such info as products, maintenance, troubleshooting, trends, etc. Please check it out and subscribe today!!
May 2009: Newsflash.....It's raining everyone!!! Newsflash II......The rain will soon stop!!!! This means when it does, and it get's hot, everyone will start thinking pools. Therefore, beat the rush and if you want to swim as much as possible this year, give us a call soon!

March 2009: The owners of River Pools spoke at and taught a business class at the National Leisure Pools Dealer Conference in New Braumfels Texas....They also ate some of the best barbecue and tex-mex of their lives!! ;-)

December 2008: Despite the economy and the fact that most pool companies have had a drop in sales between 30-50% during this past year, River Pools again experienced solid growth, have gone from 84 installs in 2007 to 90 installs in 2008.
December 2008: River Pools is currently offering major discounts on all items in their Tappahannock store with the goal of selling their entire inventory for the offseason. Everything in the store is marked off as much as 50%. This includes such items as Hot tubs, Tanning Beds, Chemicals, Billiards, gaming tables, etc. Inground pools are also at their lowest rates in years due to the slow economy. Assuming customers agree to a January pool install, they will save $5000-$10000 off a normal spring/summer install. Jim and Marc are greatly committed now to doing what it takes to promote inground pool sales during this period.
November 2008: Co Owner Marcus Sheridan attended and gave a seminar at the National Pool, Spa, and Patio Convention held in Las Vegas and sponsored by Hanley Wood.
February - April 2008: We are excited to announce the home shows we will be attending in the coming months. This will be our busiest Spring home show schedule ever, and we hope to see many of our friends and future customers there!

08/27/07: August 27th 2007 The next edition of 'The Wave' newsletter will be sent out this week. We hope everyone gets the opportunity to take a look at its articles. This edition focuses on general pool maintenance and also covers the basic steps of a pool closing. 08/20/07: We would like to thank everyone for making 2007 such a successful year up to this point. Despite the downturn in the housing market, which has had a negative impact on most pool companies across the country, this year has easily been the best of our existence. It looks like we'll install around 90 composite pools by the end of the year, and we know such success would not be possible without the support of our existing customer base.
Month of August 2007: River Pools Announces First Annual "MY POOL PHOTO CONTEST"
In an effort to better see and promote the joys of swimming pool ownership, we at River Pools are thrilled to announce our first "My Swimming Pool" photo contest. We are asking anyone that is interested to send in a picture(s) of what your pool looks like while in use on a typical day. Obviously, we'd prefer to have pictures with kids and family members using the pool, with lots of smiles and happy faces! The winner of this contest will receive a $100 gift certificate towards anything we offer at River Pools and will also receive a FREE pool closing( $235 value). There will be other prizes given out and we hope that everyone will participate in this sure to be successful event. The easiest way to send the photos would be via email(riverpoolsandspas@hotmail.com) and just making the photo an attachment. 03/01/07: River Pools will be attending, as always, two of Virginia's premier home shows during the month of March. The RICHMOND HOME AND GARDEN SHOW at the fairgrounds will take place on MARCH 2ND, 3RD, AND 4TH. The FREDERICKSBURG SPRING HOME AND GARDEN SHOW will take place at the new CENTRAL PARK convention center on MARCH 23RD, 24TH, AND 25TH.
03/01/07: Everyone keep your eyes open for the newest edition of 'THE WAVE', our company newsletter. There will be many new, informative articles in the March edition, as well as a listing of the winners of the recent River Pools and Spas "My Swimming Pool" art contest.
02/20/07: The spring is fast approaching, and our inground pool installation calendar is starting to take shape. For those customers wanting to swim for the entire '07 swim season, IT IS IMPORTANT TO RECEIVE A QUOTE SOON AND THEN MAKE A DECISION. With the amount of home shows we will be doing in March, our company will probably write 20-30 new contracts in the coming month. 12/15/06: The owners of River Pools & Spas; Jim, Jason, and Marc, were recently invited to attend CPC’s (our fiberglass pool manufacturer) first annual advisory board meeting. This event, consisting of the top 4 CPC dealers in the country, was established to further enhance CPC’s presence in the fiberglass pool market by continuing its excellent track record in high-quality composite pool construction and service. Although much of the event was business related, parts were recreational, with a portion of the trip spent on deep sea fishing in the Gulf of Mexico, where Jason and Marc made the two largest catches of the day, hauling in two groupers, each over 28 inches in length.
12/06/06: Hopefully all of our customers have now received the first edition of “The Wave”, our new company newsletter. Full of informative articles on all of the products we carry, we are thrilled about this new medium and its ability to allow us to teach and entertain our many customers. The feedback we have gotten thus far from The Wave has been exceptional, and we look forward to the next edition due out in early March.

09/09/06: The Richmond store is relocating and is currently closed. We are sorry for any inconveniences this may have caused any of our customers. This moved is based on our inability to have a better entrance to the store's parking lot. Anyone who has ever been there can understand this concern. Because we could not get this problem rectified, and with our lease expiring, we have elected to relocate eventually to the West End area. Currently, there is no time frame on this move but we will keep everyone posted with any new information.
08/21/06: We want to thank everyone for an excellent summer up to this point. There are a few point we’d like to make mention of:
- Salt Generators: For those of you who have not heard of salt-chlorine generators yet, you will probably soon learn of their strong presence in the pool industry. Roughly 75% of all of our new inground pools are now on salt, and more and more of our past pools who were using regular chlorine or baquacil have also switched to salt systems. The reasons for this are simple: LOW MAINTENANCE! The usage of a salt system basically eliminates your need as a homeowner to buy any chlorine tablets or shock the pool on a weekly basis. Because the sanitizer levels remain constant, less algaecide and balancing chemicals are needed as well. Overall maintenance costs will go way down with a salt system and the chances of getting algae are greatly diminished. The reviews we have received from various pool owners are extremely positive, with many customers commenting on just how little they now have to do to maintain beautiful and balanced pool water.
- Winter Discounts: With the summer’s end quickly approaching, all of our above ground pools in stock are on sale. Customers will also save thousands on a winter install of an inground pool, but the time to act on both is now, with the schedule filling up quickly. - Pool Closings: As always, our service department will be offering closings to inground and aboveground pools in the coming months. For those needing security covers, the time to call is now, as there is often a 3-6 week lead time during closing season to receive covers.
- Algae: As with every year, algae can be a big problem during August and September. Remember to add a double dose of algaecide on a weekly basis during this time period. For baquacil users, we suggest shocking your pool once every two weeks. For chlorine users, remember to shock on a weekly basis. .
05/01/06: In an effort to offer more products to create the “Ultimate Backyard Experience” to our customers, we are now carrying outdoor furniture and kitchens at our Tappahannock Store. We are excited about this addition, as we know outdoor kitchens have become extremely in demand these last few years. These products will be available to all of our customers, including those in the Richmond area. In fact, any customer that has already bought a pool or spa from us, will receive significant savings off our regular prices! Call our Tappahannock store with any questions.

01//06 - All three owners went to Las Vegas to meet with largest inground installer in the U.S. Jim Alexander. He installs over 500 pools a year. We called him to learn how he did this and he invited us out to look over his operation. I'm not so sure he was ready for us to take him up on his offer. We showed up and it was all business for us. He was great and gave us full access to all his people and facilities. Mr. Alexander even spent a lot of time with us answering our many questions and giving us much advice. It was a Great learning experience for us and just another way for us to learn how to grow but at the same time keep our integrity and good service in place. We had just gotten back from a big Pool and Spa convention in Orlando Florida, and will be going to another in Atlantic City. We take many classes at these conventions to learn as much as we can to better serve our customers. We also get a chance to see all the new products the industry is coming out with, which keeps us one step ahead of the competition.
