Breaking News: Ocean Reef Fiberglass Pools Out of Business

With the slow economy having such a major impact on the swimming pool industry, it was only a matter of time before fiberglass pool manufacturers started following suit to many pool builders, who are already, or are soon to be, going out of business. Such is the case with Ocean Reef Fiberglass Pools. Although there have been rumors regarding the future of Ocean Reef for some months now, my sources within the industry have confirmed that the company has ceased operations. Also, their previous website: http://www.oceanreefpools.com/ no longer appears to be working.

Although I do feel sorry for the employees of Ocean Reef, I feel even sorrier for Ocean Reef pool owners. The sad reality is these people have no recourse in terms of their pool's warranty. Simply put, if they ever have a problem with their pool shell they are up a creek without a paddle.

Such business collapses within the swimming pool industry remind us just how critical it is to choose the right pool from the right manufacturer. Within the next week, I will be writing an extensive blog regarding the future of many fiberglass pool manufacturers. I know many of you out there are planning on purchasing a fiberglass pool within the next year and I want you to feel secure about your purchase decision. I will also make everyone aware of any other company that goes out of business(if such is the case) as time unfolds.

If you have questions or comments regarding fiberglass pool manufacturers or any other question for that matter, please don't hesitate to comment below.

I am one of those unlucky customers who bought a ocean reef pool and now 3 years later have hairline cracks all over the bottom of the floor. I wont say online what I would do to the owner if I found him. I paid for a 10 year warranty and as you say I am up the creek without a paddle.

Don't give up the ship. I have a problem with mine but if I'm not mistaken a Corp. as large as Ocean Reef had to have had a bond. Correct? These last for years to cover their rear end. I'm checking on my end and if somebody hears something before me PLEASE let me know. Happy hunting.

I would also like to know if there is any sort of recourse for me. We have major chalking in our pool due to the gel coating already gone. We installed on 2-22-07
